This is the one check worth doing. The California Department of Cannabis Control publishes a searchable list of every licensed cannabis business in the state. A lawful retailer will hold a current retail licence, and that licence number is required to appear on their advertising.

- Confirm the licensed address matches the address you are travelling to.
Products sold outside the licensed system are not subject to the state testing requirements that apply to licensed retail, which is the practical reason the check matters.
