Method
- Source. The California Department of Cannabis Control public license search, queried for San Diego County.
- What is included. Every license that permits retail sale: storefront retailers, delivery-only retailers, and microbusinesses with a retail activity.
- City. A store is counted in the city that licenses it. A store with an Escondido or El Cajon postal address in the unincorporated area is counted in the county, not the city.
- Frequency. Checked weekly. A change in a license status is reviewed before it is published.
- What is left out. License holders' names, email addresses and phone numbers. They are in the state record; they are not republished here.
Limits
- A license is not a store's opening status. A licensed store can be closed for the day, or not yet open.
- Two licenses can share one address, so 87 licenses is not always 87 separate shopfronts.
- Whether a city allows storefronts comes from each local government's own rules, checked on the dates shown; local rules change.
- The state does not publish the address of a delivery-only business, so those records have no location.
