What we are and are not
- We are not a cannabis licensee. We do not sell, deliver, or handle cannabis in any form.
- We hold no interest in any licensee. No ownership, no share of revenue, no share of profits.
- Editorial answers are never for sale. Advertising, sponsorships, and paid placements may appear; they are always clearly labelled and never shape what we publish.
- We do sell software to cannabis businesses. That is a real commercial interest and it is disclosed below.
Our sourcing standard
Every legal statement on this site traces to a public source. We keep a registry of those sources and of every claim that depends on them, with the date each was checked. Claims we have not been able to verify to that standard are marked as unverified rather than presented as settled — and are kept out of our structured data entirely.

Verified claims
- Cannabis purchase in California requires being 21 or older with valid government-issued photo identification.
- Adults 21 and older may buy up to 28.5 grams of cannabis flower or 8 grams of concentrated cannabis per day.
- Consuming cannabis in a public place is prohibited in California and may carry a fine of up to 250 dollars.
- Consuming cannabis in a vehicle is prohibited, and cannabis must be transported in a sealed container or in the trunk.
- The City of San Diego limits cannabis outlets to four per Council District, 36 citywide.
- UCMJ Article 112a prohibits cannabis use and possession by United States service members regardless of state law.
- Transporting cannabis across the United States border is a federal offense regardless of California law.
- Sessions by the Bay in National City is the first licensed cannabis consumption lounge in San Diego County, opened in April 2025.
- National City approved cannabis consumption lounges in May 2022, the first municipality in San Diego County to do so.
- Driving under the influence of cannabis is a DUI in California, and an open container of cannabis in a vehicle is prohibited.
- Carrying cannabis across state lines is a federal offense, and airport security checkpoints are federal jurisdiction regardless of state law.
- Mexican customs has warned that bringing cannabis into Mexico can result in a fine of 80,000 pesos and possible incarceration, with no exception for cannabis bought legally in California.
Not yet verified
These figures appear on the site but have not met our verification standard. We say so rather than rounding them into confidence:
- A 2026 Department of Defense memorandum confirmed that cannabis remains punishable under the UCMJ for service members even after federal rescheduling of state-authorised medical cannabis — Known only through secondary reporting. We have not read the memorandum itself and no directive number has been published. The underlying Article 112a prohibition is independently sourced and does not depend on this memo.
- TSA published guidance on medical marijuana in carry-on and checked baggage changed during 2026 — Only found in commercial cannabis publications with an interest in a permissive reading. Not published anywhere on this site until confirmed against TSA primary guidance.
- roughly 34 licensed cannabis storefronts operate in the City of San Diego — Directory-derived, not a Department of Cannabis Control licence pull. Resolve via spike T-3 before this number appears in schema or in any answer passage.
Disclosure of commercial interest
BizRnR sells software that answers business phone calls, and cannabis retailers are one of the markets we sell it to. That is disclosed on the operators page and again on the phone study, where it is directly relevant to how the findings should be read.
What that interest does not do is shape our answers. Commercial placements are always labelled as such, and no business can pay to change an answer, alter a result, or be left out of the study.

- No. We are not a cannabis licensee, we hold no interest in any licensee, and nothing on this site facilitates a purchase.
- Do you accept payment for listings or placement?
- Paid placements and sponsorships may appear on this site. When they do, they are clearly labelled, they carry the licensee state licence number as California law requires, and they never change our editorial answers or the results of our research.
- Is this legal advice?
- No. This site summarises public law and official guidance. It is general information, it can be out of date, and it cannot account for your circumstances. For advice about your own situation consult a licensed California attorney.
- How do you decide what to publish?
- Every legal statement must trace to a public source recorded in our claim registry. Anything we cannot source does not get published, and figures we have not verified are marked as unverified rather than rounded into a confident number.
